a las trese y media y nosotros vamos ir a Bs. As. Yo voy a actualizar
esta página despues yo llego a EE. UU. Yo posible voy a tener
conmigo. (¡Gracias!)
English: I am writing a story for the youngest nieces and
nephews (a link is in the menu). The story will be about some small
animals that I found in Argentina and that needed a good owner.
I already too MANY pictures including pictures with people here
(including Marta, Martin, Eli, etc. see sample photos using the
link in the menu above).
My friend Coki, who is also a taxi driver, will pick me up at 1:30
PM and we will head for the airport in Buenos Aires. I will update
this web page after I arrive in the U.S. I may have photos for today.
On the way to the airport, Coki and his girlfriend shared mate
with me. (Thanks!)
|
Language Mistake: I accidentally told a friend "I
don't want to live very much because of the long drive to
the airport."
Reason: To live is Vivir and to drink
is Veber.
|
| Here are stamps from Argentina
(a friend collects stamps from around the world). Very cool. |

This is fruit Mate. It's just fruit (squeezed
to taste) with sugar and hot water. It's quite good. Thanks
Eli. |

voy a extrañar.
English: This was one of the few days in which I was not
extremely busy because I didn't have any classes. It was a nice
change for my last day. Pablo took Marta, Abuela Elena and me to
a restaurant in Crespo that had great food and we had a very good
time there. In the afternoon, I bought a couple Spanish books and
said bye to many friends whom I will miss.
|
|
This was after our large and delicious meal. It's
in the near-by town of Crespo. Much of the architecture is German
and it's a very cute little town. |
|
|
June 29: Castellano: Yo compré algunas cosas (incluso
Martin me
English: I bought several things (including more yerba and
an Argentina map) and talked much while doing so. I had coffee at
elNavegante, then went to Martin's room and raced cars on his computer.
Martin gave to me some recordings of reading from Steps to Christ
and The Great Controversy (in Spanish) so I can read while listening.
After that, I packed most of my things in preparation for leaving.
That's a bit funny because my watch had the wrong date and I'm not
actually leaving until the day after tomorrow. :-)
|
|
English: I woke up a bit late, but in time to go to church.
After a great meal, we talked a lot. Then Martin, Marta and I went
for a long walk with much talking, then Martin and I walked even
longer. In the evening, Martin and I played the car racing game
on his computer, then went to the store for Marta and talked the
entire time. When we returned to the house, Martin and I talked
for another hour or two. I must have talked today for about six
hours. It's been great, partly because I learned much about Spanish,
and partly because I learned much about my friends here.

Here is a picture of an old Renault that I liked. It's in
the page for autos now. |

un colectivo a Paraná y an otro a Santa Fe.
English: In the morning I talked with Dr. Sicalo for a while
and met some of the computer staff. Then I had lunch with Ivan and
his family and had a great time (and talked a lot). After lunch
I decided to go to Santa Fe. I took one bus to Paraná, then
another to Santa Fe. I walked the length of the peatonal (a street
only for pedestrians) and found the items for which I was looking.
It was late when I returned home so I didn't do anything else.
|
|
I had lunch with Ivan (second from the left) and
his family. Unfortunately, his father is in Bolivia right now
so I did not have the chance of getting to know him better. |

May.
Yo hablé acerca mi carrera y specificamente acerca mi trabajo
English: In the morning I went to stores and talked a lot.
Then at lunch, I met the sister of Ana and May. For some reason,
her name escapes me. We talked through lunch. Then I had to prepare
for a talk that I gave to many computer science students (about
my career and specifically about my work with NASA). After that,
I talked with Daniel in elNavegante over a cup of coffee. I had
a 6:30 dinner appointment with a different student to talk about
his career. He led me to the house of his teacher and we all talked
for about two hours. We finally began eating at about 9:00. I walked
him home and then we talked with his mother for over an hour. It
was very good experience for my Spanish.

|
mucho hoy.
English: I had my last class with Señora Celia and
my last class with Marcelo today. It's sad, but I hope I can return
soon. I had a chance to talk with Daniel for about two hours, so
I've talked a lot today.
|
|
June 24: Castellano: Despues mi clase in la mañana,
English: After my morning class, I went to a hair salon
and had my hair cut. (Wow, it feels so much better.) The girl who
cut my hair talked to me. It was difficult to understand, in this
case, because the words used in a salon are very different from
"every day" words. But we communicated sufficiently and
I have it cut the way I like it.
After lunch, I took more photos of the stuffed animals for my youngest
nieces and nephews. Then had class with Marcelo. We talked for 2.5
hours and I must say that I'm very happy with my progress.
|
|
Yea, that's what I wanted... My hair was WAY too long.
Sí, está lo que quise. Mi pelo era demasiado
largo.

Me
¡Fantastica!
English: I have stuffed animals for my youngest nieces and
nephews and plan to write a story about them with ideas like how
they came to Argentina, how they met each other, why they need a
good home now and how they met me. The animals will all have names
from South America, and in the story, I will tell the animals that
I know of some good homes for them. The story will contain some
Spanish too and how the animals began to learn English from me.
I began taking pictures of the animals in situations here in the
village. I will give the animals with the story and pictures, to
my nephews and nieces. It will be a good way to maybe perk their
interest in Latin America, Argentina in particular, and the Spanish
language.
I met with one Spanish teacher in the morning, then with Marcelo
in the evening. I talked for about five hours today. "How cool
is that?"
|
|
I've not seen this type of thing in the U.S. It's a mechanism
to automatically inflate truck tires to their proper pressure
WHILE they are in use.
No vi estas en estados unidos. Esta es un aparato para mantener
presión de aire automaticamente.

June 22: Castellano: Este jueves, voy a hablar a un grupo
que está estudiando computación. Voy a hablar acerca
de mi carrera profesional. Va a interestante. Voy a tratar hacerlo
Necesito dormir ahora.
English: This coming Thursday I will talk to a computer
science group about my career and thoughts about their careers.
It should be interesting. I will try to do it in Spanish, although
there will be a person there that can interpret if necessary. I
will write the talk down first so I will be prepared (even though
I may not follow it).
Today was simple, but good. I listened to talk radio very often,
ate a few times :-) talked with some people periodically, raced
cars on Martin's computer, then caught up in my email while listening
to a sermon (Bernardo Rodriguez Triviño). I need to sleep
now.

yo estaba escuchando radio hablado. Un cambio para mi página
es una hoja nueva para fotos favorita. Mira. Ya está en el
menu.
English: I took many photos of Libertador San Martin that
I will put on a CD for those who want it (The CD will include all
the photos from Argentina.) Then I talked to a guy for about an
hour, which was great practice. After a nap, I spent a lot of time
updating this web page while listening to talking on the radio.
One change is a collection of my favorite photos. Check it out.
It's now on the menu.

era adventista y judío. Era muy interestante. Despues fuimos
un otro culto donde ECSES canamos.
English: I had class with Marcelo today and it went well.
I met Daniel for lunch and later we went to the grocery store, then
to his soccer practace. Before his practice, we watched a group
practice rugby. That was interesting. I walked around a bit, then
met Daniel for his evening worship. We went to a service that was
Adventist and Jewish. It was very interesting. Later, we went to
a different service at which ECSES sang.

June 19: Castellano: No fui a Bolivia todavia.
Buenos experiencia.

Temporary Note: These two card have been added to
the Autos page.

English: I did not go to Bolivia. I talked with some people
that go there frequently and they said that the trip requires at
least two days and often three (each direction). I became concerned
about the time (because I'm returning to the United States on July
1). So I will not be able to go. Bummer.
Last night I met Jimy and Daniel, two people from Bolivia. Daniel
took me to a person's house and we talked from nine PM until eleven.
They were very nice and it was great experience. Then I talked to
Daniel until about two AM. So I'm a bit tired today. But again,
it was great experience. Today, Daniel and I had lunch together
and talked after lunch. Then, after a siesta, I walked with Martin
and talked a lot. (Thanks Martin!)
I ate with Daniel, then we met Jimy and together we went to evening
worship. After that Daniel and I walked to his boss's house and
we talked with them for quite a while, until ten o'clock. Great
experience.

This is Daniel, a new friend of mine. He's been talking with
me a lot which helps me learn Spanish.
Esta es Daniel, mi amigo nuevo. Ha estado hablando mucho
conmigo. Me ayuda mucho.

Si voy a Bolivia mañana, no
English: In my morning Spanish class, I found that I can
purchase tickets in Santa Fe to go to Bolivia. I may do that. If
I go to Bolivia tomorrow, I will not update this web page until
I return (possibly for five days).
|
|
June 17: Castellano: He escuchando a cassettes todo
English: I've listened to tapes all day. Both Spanish classes
went well. Not much new, except that I'm trying to find out how
to go to Bolivia to visit David Gates and the ADvenir television
station. It's a possilbe location for another South American visit.
We'll see.
|
|
June 16: Castellano: Yo escuché a la predicación
acerca diez vezes hoy (posible mas). Cada vez, entiendo mas. Creo
English: I listened to the sermon by Bernardo Rodriguez
Traviño about 10 times today (maybe more). I'm recognizing
more of it as I listen. I think this is a good plan... to listen
for several hours per day. Both of my Spanish classes were cancelled
so I had more time than usual. I used it all in listening to the
tape, and taking care of the many pictures from the last few days.

The Ignacio
Copani Concert
|
|
|
|
|
|
There were several acts before Ignacio Copani
|
|
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
|
|
Ignacio Copani talked a lot. Aparently he was
funny. :-) I didn't understand, but had fun anyway. I bought
two albums after the concert. |
 |
|
Copani did not require any money of the University
for the concert.
|
|
He had the young people sing with him twice. |
